Sustainable Travel & the School Travel Policy
At Beaumont Primary School we encourage pupils and parents to travel to school by cycling, scooting and walking wherever possible. The school has two scooter pods where pupils can safely store their scooter during the school day; we also have a larger covered shelter for bikes.
The school regularly promotes road safety awareness to pupils and this is endorsed in school newsletters where we ask all parents/carers to be safety aware and courteous to our neighbours, especially at peak traffic times, when driving their car in the school vicinity. Newsletters prompt drivers not to park on zig-zag or double-yellow lines and certainly not to impede our neighbours by parking over their drives.
The school is also a member of Transport for London's School Party Travel Scheme where educational visits and sports trips involving public transport benefit from free transport. Without such support, the pupils would not be able to gain the additional education gained by being able to access many valuable offsite resources.
