Year 2 Trip to Foxley Wood
On 17th September Year 2 visited Foxley Wood in Purley as part of their Science learning about habitats. We heard many birds and saw grey squirrels. Along the footpath there were lots of feathers from a pigeon that a fox had caught for its dinner! This was an example of a food chain, as were the flies that a spider had caught in its web. Just before lunch we spotted large holes on the side of a hill – they were the entrance to a badgers’ sett. The badgers were asleep inside as they are nocturnal. We hope we didn’t disturb them!
We had a wonderful time and learned a lot about a European woodland habitat. Next we are going on a safari!!
