Reception visited Gatton Park
Our trip to Gatton Park
We learnt new plant names such as ‘Forget-Me-Nots and Cowslip. The children planted beans in a beautiful setting. We were lucky enough to see Bluebells. We all learnt that plants need nutrients, water, warmth, sunlight and air to grow. We revisited our prior learning about the ‘Life Cycle of a Butterfly’. Since we were near the stables, we seized the chance to smell and spell m-a-n-ure to help us remember the ure trigraph. We learnt about how caterpillars either camouflage themselves or warn birds that they’re poisonous using bright colours – some even have spikes. Lastly, we learnt about the symmetry of butterfly wings through a matching game. Mrs Hall.
